I bought these pants shopping with my best friend at the Canterbury craft show this fall. It was a splurge for me, but one I do NOT regret. In fact, I came back looking to buy another pair for when the first pair is in the wash- figured I'd better leave a review while I'm at it.
Rarely does anyone read full narrative reviews so I'll go this route:
-FUNCTIONAL: **meaning- POCKETS!!! Deep pockets, plus the zippered leg pocket.**
-TOUGH: Wore these unintentionally while collecting firewood today in thorns. Zero rips, tears or runs. I was surprised and impressed.
-Flexible and adjustable: Elastic internal elastic belt works and skips the scratchy velcro common in other winter pants.
-Warm: fleece lining really feels great. No annoying seems or static-y cling between internal and external layers of the pants.
-Works: Fits over the top of my winter boots.
-Blocks wind: Wore these fat biking in the country. Despite the wind, I stayed pretty warm. Usually knees suffer in these temps- mine felt fine.
-Just try them.
I'm 5'7" and weigh 150lbs. Usually I wear between 28 and 30 sized jeans (depends on the brand) with a 31" inseam. The size 10 Smartie Pants is not suction cup tight on me but looks flattering (Compared to most other women's warm clothing). And they are also loose enough to move and not feel restricted; I have jammed some leggings in these too when I wanted another layer. Wearing them throughout the day did seem to "loosen" them up, and I brought the internal belt in a couple notches- went right back to feeling brand new out of the bag.
Please make these in more colors!! Olive green, dark brown, forest green, navy, gray, burgundy... If you need a test subject, please let me know ;)
