This is the perfect recipe to jazz up a hot dog cook out, and easy to make!
Ingredients
- Hot dogs, foot long or regular. My favorite are the old fashioned with skin on
- Jalapeños, seeded and hollow
- Slices of bacon
- Large hot dog buns
- Cheddar cheese, strips to stuff hot dogs, cut from a block
Instructions
1. Slice hot dogs the long way, and insert strips of cheese. I cut about ¼” slice off the block the long/narrow way, and then cut 3 long slices from it.
2. Slide stuffed hot dog into hollowed out jalepenos. Slice them open on one side to spread them if the natural opening is too small, which it probably will be. If the jalepenos, are short, I put them together like a boat, and put the hot dog cheese side down into it.
- Carefully wrap with bacon around the works. Use toothpicks to secure in place, but don’t forget to take them out after they are grilled.
- Grill carefully, turning as needed until hot dog is cooked and cheese is melted, with out the bacon burning.
- Remove toothpicks and serve on a bun with options such as caramelized onions, and condiments of your choice.
Note: I actually like these without a bun or condiments. They stand alone well because they are packed with flavor.
