Long Down Skirt

(9 customer reviews)

$199.00

Grey Dot/Urban Camo print!
The same great minne-skirt…just a little bit longer!

Inspired by “minne” (Minnesota) winters, we designed “a jacket for your “behind”, used to out-smart old man winter and enjoy anything else that might take you outside – commutes, errands, dog parks, walking, team sports, hockey fans, skiing, and biking! Also great for cold offices and drafty houses!

  • Full side zipper (with a reflective strip for safety) on one side and partial on the other to allow for easy on/off—open them part way for ventilation or ease in movement when active.
  • Zipper pockets.
  • Reflective Zipper on Reverse/Grey Side
  • A removable pouch that acts as your pocket. When you reverse the skirt, you move the pocket/pouch to that side
  • Waist adjuster to tighten the waistline if needed
  • Fabric zipper cover at the top
  • Double zippers at the bottom for easy walking
  • Durable fabric
  • Toggle pulls at the bottom of the front and back to snug up and get cozy when sitting still
  • D-ring on the front for attaching keys or mittens.
  • 90% down/10% feathers.
  • Dry clean or machine wash on gentle/lay flat to dry/shake to fluff.

WARMTH RATING: -30° to + 55° (all temps) – 750 downfill. We wear this all winter long and even in the spring and fall when it’s chilly and we just “don’t want to be cold”. If it’s on the warmer side, we open up the zippers on the side. If it’s colder, we keep the zippers down. It does a great job of keeping the frost off your buns at any temperature.

Absolutely love this long down skirt! I needed a down coat and couldn’t decide between the ultra long length or the knee length. This solved that issue – I could go with the knee length coat and and wear the long down skirt! Ending up with a practical down coat length.
So many positive things I could comment on. To keep this review short, what I love the most it keeps me warm and cuts the wind chill off of my legs!
And lastly, Gretchen and Rose are super kind -great ladies!

Day ONE of wearing my skirt, and I lost count of how many times I was asked about it. Even men complement me on my savvy cold weather clothing choices. It is so warm, almost too warm. To the point where I am just going to HAVE to get a shorter one for higher temps. Poor me! My office has no heat, so I was desperate to find something to keep me toasty short of bringing in a duvet. The multiple uses for this brilliant skirt is added to every time I wear it. Walkabout in the chill? What, like it’s hard? Sliding into a cold car in the morning? It laughs in the face of cold vinyl. The removable pouch is inspired. Perfect spot for my security badge and phone. You guys, you need this.

I just wore this skirt out in the wild for the first time and my husband was almost annoyed at the number of people coming up to me asking where I got it! It’s just a fantastic piece.

That’s so FUNNY! 🙂 Sorry! (Not sorry!) I’m glad you stayed warm….and social!

I love this skirt so much. I wear it 3 seasons. I’ve literally had people chase me down to find out where I got it.

I stumbled upon heim-made via a websearch for a ski skirt that led me to a review by garage grown gear. I just received my minne-skirt long, and two thumbs up! It’s quite warm, and thoughtfully designed with two zip pockets. I am pleased with the length that hits me about mid-shin–it’s more practical than a short ski skirt I have. A size small fits me well, and I am 5’5″ and about 130-135 lbs with a straight figure. There is some elastic in the back of the waist, FYI, and Gretchen was very helpful in guiding me with size. I think it will be a ski trip and dog-walking staple, and probably more, as it’s warm and cute. More color options might be nice, like I’d probably love to get a really bright yellow, or hunter green or navy, but black is very functional. Love that this is a mother-daughter team, and that this small business creates and makes available a wonderful product! Thank you!

How much do I like this skirt? 110% How often do I wear in the the winter? All the time! It’s so easy to slip on with tights and a sweater or sweatshirt and face the freezing days in N. Idaho. If you live in snow country, you need one. Great quality and fit. Wonderful people to work with.

Rose and Gretchen’s company, Heim-Made, also makes other cold-defying clothing, including fleece-lined leggings, a full-length Minne-Skirt, and a matching down vest. Women in cold-weather residences from here to Europe are doing everything from shopping to skiing in these skirts.

The best skirt I can imagine for frigid days when you have to run errands or even go to work (in a casual office). I am 5’5″, weigh about 135, and the M fit perfectly. It is surprisingly sleek too. Down adds some inches, but this one isn’t so puffy that you end up looking like the Michelin Man.
